Headphone specs for the headband?

Signal to noise, dynamic range etc? Just want to make sure they are decent, as long as they are not gas station quality.

yeah, seconded.

iā€™ve been thinking about it, and feel hesitant about built-in headphones; ive heard that problems developing over time is fairly common among rift cv1 owners. my left ear actually starting cutting out recently. i fixed it by tightening the headphone with a screwdriver, but it was scary to think that i could already be having problems with it after only having it for a few weeks. hope it lasts until i upgrade!

Would love to have more info on this.
Did Pimax manage to partner up with a renowed headphone company ? There are so many out there, iā€™m sure they can find one interested.
Samsung partnered with AKG for their Odyssey HMD.

Partnering with Logitech or Steelseries for their lag-free wireless sound tech would be greatā€¦

I donā€™t see a use case for headphones being wireless.

They want to provide a wireless module, probably like tpcast. Why not make the sound wireless from the start.

One big reason, cost, also the headset still needs a 3.5 jack for the users choice of headphones. Or did you mean that the entire jack should be made into a wireless thing?
Better to implement that in the wireless module.

Exactly, i prefer 3.5 jack instead wireless right now.

The difference between headphone strap and one without them is 10 bucks; not much you can fit for that price, donā€™t expect premium quality. Also as one who hates over-the-ear(edit: on-the-ear, sorry) style of headphones, detaching them would be the first thing I would do, once I will get my HMD. So I would much prefer having a 3.5 jack on the headset to connect my own headphones.

Earphones on the headstrap look like on-ear type to me.
Besides why would you go for headstrap with earphones if you plan to remove them straight away?

But I also think that implementation of wireless sound module at this moment would be completely pointless.

On-the-ear

Over-the-ear

Audio strap obviously has the first style. And why would I take them off? Because I hate on-the-ear headphones, need I have another reason?

Edit: notices the typo in my first message, sorry. I hate on-the-ear headphones.

There will be two options for a headstrap to choose from, one with earphones and one without, so Iā€™m asking why are you planning to go for option ā€˜withā€™ if you donā€™t want those earphones?

You should both read and write more carefully.

The deluxe audio strap on the vive made hopping into vr a lot simpler and I realized over pricey cans decent sounding and convenient won me over in the sound dept at least.

Yes, convenience is an important factor, so Iā€™ll go for strap with earphones to use with most of the stuff.
However, to me sound quality is very important in flight/space sims, so I also opted for $10 cloth strap, so I can use my over-the-ear Hi-fi cans.

I am aware, but there are no downsides in choosing audio strap, now that headphones are detachable:

  1. It is a ā€œfreeā€ upgrade
  2. Theoretically there might be a house guest, whom I would like to show HMD, but wouldnā€™t like him using my headphones.
  3. I am not sure there will still be an option for a PSVR style headstrap without headphones, because injection moulds cost and arm and a leg. In the event that there wonā€™t be enough backers, who will choose option without headphones, it would be economically irresponsible of them to make two models. Considering you can take them of, why even make such a model, if it will make production harder (time to change tooling, etc.)?

This project already approved internally, I will let you know more info once itā€™s updated : )

cant remember this question in survey, i hope i get headphones later cause i didnā€™t have some similar.

The deluxe headphone strap was a reward for hitting the $1,000,000 Kickstarter stretch goal. The most current info is that the headset will ship with a standard strap and that the deluxe strap will ship later, once itā€™s ready (unless you opted to delay shipment until both headset and accessories are available).
