1, ghosting even at slow speeds when moving head
2, feels like am looking through a fish bowl
3, it feels very twitchy and the screen twitches when moving head
4 , its very dark and dull
games i have tried are elite dangerous , euro truck sim 2 , project cars , all are unplayable and make me feel kinda sick.
Am running piplay version 1,2,53 and firmware 1.0.0248 , any suggestions i can try ? surely my oculus dk2 shouldnt look better than this should it ? in my dk2 i feel immersed in the game, but with the pimax i feel like am just looking in from the outside if that makes sense.
You can increase the display’s brightness, search the forum.
Ghosting is unfortunately a problem with LCD screens. It would have been better to use 4k OLED but these screens were not available back then. They are right now but there’s still no headset available based on them and I doubt we’ll see them in 2017.
And yes, use v1.1.92, until they fix the issue’s with v1.2.x
right i removed the latest version , deleted what was left in the folder then rebooted.
i installed the 1.1.92 beta but now it just says searching with a green light on the top , tried rebooting again , a different usb but still the same , any ideas ? this software is not the best thing is it lol
Disable your virus killer and try again (best to make an exception for the pimax stuff in your AV software). The reason is the PIMAX components communicate via opening a TCP/IP port, which is typical malware behavior too of course, hence some virus killers go nuts on it.
Also, if you get vertical displayed image, then you must delete C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config\steamvr.vrsettings and try again
well i done all that , now it says device connected but still have the green light and nothing in the hmd , if i connect to steam vr i get the blue light and hmd works but no games play through it
Try rebooting first, and delete oculus home software if installed. This version of piplay is not compatible with oculus home.
If after rebooting it doesnt work, you can try reinstalling all things: unplug device (hmd, usb), uninstall piplay, uninstall steamvr, manually delete “steavr.cfg” and “steamvr” folder in Steam\SteamApps\common, reboot, plug in, install piplay, install steamvr, one more reboot to be sure.
thx for the suggestions , ive tried removing all software oculus & pimax , ran registry cleaners and made sure everything is clean , tried again an i get a green light but it wont connect to pimax or steamvr.
could it bee a firmware problem ?
also if i go to nvidia control panel should it show up there ? as am only seeing my main moniter.
EDIT
Got it working now guys , thx for all the help.
I tried to update the firmware manually and ended up stuck in update mode with all the lights flashing yes I panicked and just turned it all off.
Rebooted went into debug mode and it updated itself then it started working
Tried a few games and it’s alot better , it’s just ghosting really puts me off , is there any settings I can try to make it a bit better ?
If you’re using 1.1.92 go to steam settings and disable “interleaved reprojection”, this could help to decrease ghosting a bit (need to be sure your pc can handle 60 fps)
Hi,
I’m using Piplay version 1.2.53 and I seem to be experiencing a lot more ghosting than I did before. It’s as if the fps has been reduced.
I may have to try to go back to 1.1.92, but it’s a shame because I like the stability and integrated OCHome of this version.
