EDIT: I’m actually 100% sure I had this configured when using my 5K+ but I guess I either overwrote the config since or it doesn’t work in the 8KX (or in 90 Hz mode). I’ll know later… :upside_down_face:

To my understanding is related to the Nvidia drivers. I have the same issue,

but the 8KX does not behave in the same way when in 75Hz mode. in regards to timeout / screen blanking

I have tried all the known working versions too, but yes.

As far as I know it should be working since 466.63 with the alpha firmware I and others have tested:

If it still blanks for You when disabling the screensaver I guess we know for certain… :+1:

I have informed Pimax that if it indeed does behave differently I’m willing to test a custom firmware where it’s completely disabled to see if that might be the case.

This is a good point. As we have some Amd 6000 series gpu users it might be good to compare notes.

Can we make a poll somehow and try to get as many users to respond? Maybe on all the channels, OpenMR, FB, Reddit, etc.

The trouble with polls is that it is hard to ensure people are not voting on the issue on all platforms. Save using an average of results from each platform that may diminish or exaggerate the results.

Pimax should do a customer survey via email to each 8kX owner and share the results and actions that are being explored to correct the issue.

Thats true too. But even if they did vote on multiple platforms it would still find any issues if they’re ONLY nvidia problems.

I do agree that i havent seen many say AMD. Maybe one or two people have said something before with an AMD gpu.

UPDATE: I’m currently testing a new alpha firmware (not the same as has been distributed previously - this one was built 2021-06-17) and have 90 Hz working it seems! :sunglasses:

Only tested it very, very briefly today, but everything worked as expected when not using extension cables.

When using my Lindy 38415 DP repeater and an optical fiber cable to extend the DP cable, it seems like it’s just barely over the limit (or the signal strength is just a tad too low?) as I get an image on the panels but only very shortly before it cuts out and restarts the headset (it seems).

P.S. Don’t ask me to provide You with the firmware file. I’m sure they’ll provide it on request (for testing) or release it soon when they have made sure there are no downsides to it.

I read somewhere that the firmware they are working on not only addresses the 90hz but it has other features too. I’m wondering what they are if someone is able to say. If it’s secrete I understand.
