I had to install my 8K+ again and I installed PiTools (non beta) I also downloaded the firmware update.
What folder does the firmware update go to? My headset runs fine do I even need it?

When you install PiTool, it will automatically update the headset firmware (if necessary). Since your headset “runs fine”, you’re in good shape. You don’t need to do anything else, unless there’s some sort of problem or you want to install new capabilities into your headset (like the “beta” 8KX native 90 Hz refresh support).
My understanding is that the folder doesn’t really matter. DFU (the manual firmware update tool) just copies the firmware data to the headset, so the firmware file can be in any file folder.
