Hi,
so recently I was looking for a new FPV Goggle suited for my RC Airplane and look what I ve discovered:
I m aware, strictly speaking this is not a VR device but it comes with a bunch of features which might intrest you as a VR fanatic.
Like allmost all VR and FPV goggles their are 2 screen to ensure a 3d Stereoscopic experience. Rift and Vive have 2 vertical alligned screens but they cannot harvest all pixels on screen and only have a 1080x1200 resolution on a 100-110° Fov which results in an even more pixelated image . This device however uses a novel Lens design to let both eyes focus on the entire 5inch screen to ensure max amount of clarity. It cannot display stereoscopic images but look at this specs:
- 1080p Screen
- 85° FOV
- 600 cd/m Brightness (!)
- 20-50 ms latency
- weight: 330g (Vive: 468g; Oculus: 470g)
- multi use videoinput (HDMI,AV,
- 3,8V 2400 mAh battery which holds for 2h operating time
- advanced screen customisation (contrast, brightness, saturation, noise reduction, etc)
- 120Hz refresh rate (!)
- 130$ (!)
Most of the customers were very impressed by the screen quality and overall performance!
So this device might be really intresting for a home theatre / non VR gaming device.
Unfortunately many customers complained about a bad comfort for western noses allthough the company has stated that they upgraded the nose fit for westerners who knows…some on yt have modded the faceplate to get along.
Tell me what you guys think about it.
