I’ve just received my Pimax 4K. I was very excited. I am on Windows 10 english.
I started installing.
I uninstalled the Oculus software.
I plugged it in.
I installed the latest PiSetup_1.1.92_x64_int.exe.
I downloaded the Under the Ice panoramic photo, and it was working.
Then I hit the “Upgrade firmware” button within Piplay. It started ok, then after a few seconds:
“DFU updating is failed”.
Looking at the grammar, this is definitely not a Windows message. The Pimax update software failed. After this, the Pimax will not turn back on. I did not pay attention to the on/off LED during the update, whether it turned it off during the update itself or after the “updating is failed” message.
I rebooted the PC, changed the USB port, all of them working, but the Pimax would not turn on. I tried pressing on the on/off button on the headset, next to the sound on/off buttons, nothing. And I can’t retry the firmware update since Piplay does not see the device that would not turn back on.
Wow I am impressed. The problem is fixed, thanks to the most involved and efficient support I have ever experienced. I had two persons over two days, first on a Sunday then up to 23h local on Monday. I had to play some piano on the buttons, but in the end the headset was re-Vived (point intended). So thanks again.
I think it’s too late to answer now, but here goes.
I stayed online with Pimax support for about an hour during two sessions. I played the piano on the three buttons on the headset, while at the same time moving the usb cable from one slot to another. In the end iirc it worked like this: press all 3 buttons, move the usb port to a new slot, wait like 8 seconds, release the power button, wait 8 seconds, release the middle button, wait 8 seconds and release the last button. And the headset LED came back to life.
But I may be mistaken, better use Pimax support on Skype to do all this voodoo.
