Dead pixels on HMD (now with pic)

Hi there

Recently got my Pimax from Gearbest,as mentioned on another thread very pleased with it for it’s price.

One problem seem to have dead pixels that resemble as best comparison a eyelash/curved line, dead centre of my vision, would have ignored if in another position but no a chance as it’s so in my face, very annoying.

As with Gearbest policy 45 day return policy they need proof but taking a pic or vid is proving difficult if not impossible,If I squint the line goes away not to practical !

Hope you guys can advise me,before I contact Gearbest again,or if anybody else has been in the same situation.

(Quick edit got the oddity on a pic, starting RMA process with Gearbest hopefully all goes well, fingers crossed)

GearBest will do everything to refus all ur claims. Best u can hope is 25$ or 30$ cashback.

They will ask you to pay for parcel to china from ur pocket and then possibly for parcel back.

And no guarantee that the replacement will be any better.

If your required to take a picture and pay the shipping to and fro, why can’t Gearbest check the HMD before shipping it out to you upon request.

Thanks

Yeah it’s a gamble but it’s just my luck the fault is bang centre, anywhere else I might have suffered it.

No doubt will pay for shipping back to Pimax but I did see some where on the forums if HMD is faulty Pimax will pay shipping back, but if they do send a new unit I want a full QA test on any new unit shipped out, will contact Paypal if need be if it’s got as much as a speck wrong with it 2nd time around.

Well not sure how they can refuse this it’s plain as day to see against
the snow back drop undisputed pixel errors not one dead pixel maybe a whole squiggly row of them ;(

Yeah I know. I reported my issue within 3 days - and their TOS states that if reported within 3 days they will sort it all out and pay for everything.

Took me like 2 weeks to get them to agree to my argument. Not only that that said that I WILL PAY for parcel to CHINA, and then if and ONLY IF they engineer agree to the fault they will pay me back for my parcel.

I’m never buying from them again, if Pimax ever wants to see my $$ they better fine proper retailer for EU !

Pimax are cobbling these units together with no QA in sight.

In fairness, it’s not really Gearbest’s issue, they need to take it up w/ Pimax as they are the supplier.

Gearbest have probably gotten a lot of complaints. They still sell/accept the product with faults so that makes them complacent.

Gearbest has horrible support, so if you expect to have guarantee or some help - never purchase anything there.
The only possible was is to pay with paypal and if there will be some problems report the issue to paypal within 30 days, because paypal has buyer protection and they care about customers.

@industria its not so simple. I looked in to paypal protection and its not so black & white as you would think it is. There are issues with it too. So don’t expect to fall on it and not lose money.

Sure, no guarantee, but still its better then to count on gearbest.
I have ordered by gearbest a gamepad to play games in VR with pimax, the package was lost, it was obvious for me in less then 1 week, but i had to wait about 45 days and they offered me 50% refund  My biggest waste of time and disappointment with internet shopping. The only good thing about that story is that i got full refund after i contacted paypal:)

What’s covered with PayPal Purchase Protection
You bought a book, but received a DVD
You bought an item described as “new,” but received something that was used
You purchased 3 items, but only received 2
The item was damaged during shipping
The item is missing major parts (that the seller didn’t report)
You purchased an item described as authentic, but received a knockoff instead

And some more on paypal site:

Shop with confidence.
If your order is significantly different to the seller’s description or doesn’t arrive, you have 180 days to file a dispute. It could be that the event you bought a ticket for was cancelled, you didn’t receive everything you bought, the item was defective, damaged or counterfeit. We can protect you for the full purchase price plus shipping costs, up to $20,000 per item.

Well blow me down with a feather !

So far very impressed with Gearbest, very prompt replies only one was actually automated as far as I could tell.

No real fuss as soon as I sent the pic,and explained with acid like wit how the HMD has this dead pixel effect and no way was it dust, they sent the RMA form within hours.

So my dead pixels HMD is now winging it’s way to China, for a replacement
as pretty sure I’m out of the 45 day refund if I wanted to take that option.

Fingers crossed the North Korean fat dough boy does not throw his toys out of his pram, could take a while to get a new one if it all kicks off !
