I think I finally reverse engineered the solution. Many guesses, but from Driver IC specs, fact is 4x 1Kx1K slices are present. I am SW background mostly, hated HW exams. 01011011, wait Pimax 0100K, decoded what is this “Fake shared specs under NDA”. We are facing Great NDA Wall of China. All tech specs, analogix hides it’s IP, no way PimaxSWD would share that on DP DSC is not supported, but DP 1.4 ready is marketed. They are using SW solution for DSC. Render target is for feeding the DSC encoder from GPU. This is nVidia NDA also, what means DP 1.4 ready. They use DP to 2xHDMI because probably GPU needs spoofed input, to be tricked that DP 1.4 is on input, for this “hack” to work. Real input res per eye is 4K/eye, as advertised on 8K X.
In 2018 NDA is over. I was stupid to waste time on finding HW reason, when they need HW excuse, to not have solution ready before 2018, when V4 will display Brainwarp(with ASW) customized for 50-150Hz* emulation, or 60-180, but require GPU not to give <50-60FPS from renderer to give good MTP. 80Hz limit on V3 is from using simulated HW limitation, now they are like solving HW limits with SW(Software team reported working on this)… Pimax has NDA with all tech persons here, no one can share if my findings are true before 2018. When Analogix, lifts NDA. Or will be used smokescreen, Brainwarp as solution when in background is DSC used, but does it do full reconstruction I think not, because no sync with decoder on bridge. So need for upscaling to be marketed. Just feed panels 3:1 instead of 2:1. Sorry for bashing, but hiding is not for me. I prefer Open source projects, SW thing. This is HW/SW solution for 4k/eye VR. Cost effective at least, using latest and greatest HW solution, would be like X price x2, if rushed, cause depend on volume too much 1M+ unit to be cost effective(ASIC) for example. I guess Linus also signed NDA, Video was on YT, just programmed to release when NDA lifts. And was given OK light to say “8K” is BS, and that LCD is slower than OLED, because this is Valve SW+Analogix+nVidia HW solution, with Pimax tweaks. Backed by China marketing strategy(funding “VRtubers”), who will speak good about all VR tech from China, with a bit of balance, simulated. And claim to pay with their own money trips, pay for both version on KS etc etc. Pimax Marketing BS smokescreen debunked - V2. CV in 2018. XD I wondered how can someone spend so much time on so little views/channel. I know now, this uses Russia, China, Marketing War. Bots used, “independent tech specialists”, SweReviewer…I bet Pimax is just cover company, for SW team, and big machinery that control data on internet, like great firewall of China, but for data about real products(4K HMD specs well hidden). I almost bought one, but probably wouldn’t risk to open it, to check HW specs… Well done, SW engineers, behind this tech(and BS on HW limits xD ). I salute you. as self proclaimed “reverse engineer”. 80is limit to SW, for Brainwarp, can’t simulate well enough to market MTP below that, 15ms-25ms MTP expected, depending on ASW prediction success rate. If you knew anything at all you would know the original v1 had dual hdmi Jan 2017. The v2 has dual hdmi as it is related; pimax went to DP at the community’s request.

@Heliosurge @ALL The problem with @SpecsReader is that he starts all his theories with a wild assumption that Pimax lies about everything and then after several pages of elaboration he arrives at the conclusion that indeed Pimax lies about everything.
If you challenge his assumptions on some basic info (i.e. input resolution, display refresh, ANX spec), he just ignores it by saying you are either not “technical savvy” enough to understand it, or you are sponsored by Pimax. Agreed. Its too bad for a short time he seemed to get better. But he’s slipped back to his conspiracies mindset. He wasn’t wven content with a limited audience & had to bring SweViver into his non-sense.

After all we know the risks already from their Risk Assessment. Besides there has been enough reviews from fellow users & professionals alike. For us to know it will be good even if not as perfect as we might want it to be.

If China based, Not sure if IP even can be used to sue, not if you market HDMI 2.0 as HDMI 1.4b. Or as Analogix put “HBR2.5”, I knew that was final solution. Breakout box, will be HW(to protect against NDA). DP to (HTC Vive like b/o box) with DP in 2xHDMI out. As was used with Vive. Maybe Valve protected HTC, or paid Vesa IP rights, to market ATW + DSC 2:1 as reprojection. ATW is IP right of nVidia. They also use on Vive backlight strobing, but they simulate if read nVidia research 1600Hz “binary display”. With LCD you have 10x less slices per panel. So get 160Hz possible with 8K X(2x anx7530), and feed with Volta 8K/eye to ASW ASW feeds HMD dsc decoder. This is just reverse engineering, SW mostly, no need to touch HW… Just have “specs”. You use Laptop for demo with old nVidia drivers, can’t use ASW yet. Hysterical laugh before/when ask Pimax rep, with SW background about BW - no, not breaking NDA, not risking to have to move to Mexico

Your specs GFX: 2xHD7950 Sapphire Dual-X OC ED, is just to hide from nVidia. Can you disclose number, in binary(b), not if you are under NDA, but how many of them. You use 2xHDMI to Force GPU to output at DSC resolution, but it has limit in sync resh. rate at 60Hz. That is whole 60Hz/90hz async. Your Pimax 4K is not Pimax “4K”, it is Pimax 4K input, 75Hz(sync) HMD. No ATW/ASW in use tho, so MTP just a bit lower than with 60Hz sync, 75 sync with shutters to hide, once again . P-IMAX, maybe Imax paid for DSC IP from VESA… Now that is wild guess, don’t sue me, I have no IP/NDA contracts: 0000b.

@LoneTech very silent from your last “HW hack”… From your style, I see you are designing HW, very hard(for talented engineer only work). I am talented in reverse… But I see you can’t even try to “debunk” my findings. I think you design anx7530 DSC engine, what is marketed, it will take in sensor data, and give real deal, 180Hz MTP marketed by Pimax, which I call BS, comparing HW specs to SW specs. Kudos to you… Give me some encoded data, or like, some signal. I know that I wrote that I will encode silence as “like/approve”. xD But real like, from man who works on 8K X, 180Hz “20bit display” that can’t be marketed, or can be, as BW refresh rate, SW solution to HW probs.

“Fake news marketing strategy” - Russia/China style, Pimax disposable brand, Acer has IP now, uses Pimax to test market if is worth to invest probably funding money $4.2 x 10, into making StarVR from b2b product, as is pimax with “BE” HMD(oled version of “4K”), into consumer product. And also why no real 6DOF on demo, not because they couldn’t use 1xHDMI 2.0 5+m, to feed DSC decoder + use ASW to test if idea is good to run on kickstarter. That is what I attacked, they hide that V3 is just for “KS” purpose, they have all testing done and all data. Use market test with V1-V2, that use built-in tracking, probably(yea V2 lighthouse is fake also, as HDMI 1.4b). Hide them, use KS to test market if worth to invest in AIO HMD(StarVR on Qualcomm platform). That is reported to be 90Hz stable. That is whole basis for KS, not to raise funds, but get free market analysis data. Myself analyst(tech), so that is how I see that this makes sense at all. Since this is Chinese strategy to beat West in race to “AIO ~6DOF HMD”, like Oculus plans with Project Santa Cruse, that will use OLED/microLED, for real 1600hz binary display. And fov rendering(w or w/o eye tracking, but ASW is same tech as DSC decoder marketed here…).
They, StarVR marketing team don’t care about general public, b2b is with real specs, they put marketing specs, thinks we are plebs 
. And they know enough to make me look stupid, but without data to back that claim, NDA reasons with Acer probably. Debunked or not, at least I get what I came from here. Real conclusion, from “fake specs”, fake fake specs, like fake news, fake fake media news. Use DSC not support on anx7530 to claim, we need 2xDP 1.4 new chip, when real specs is DP 1.4 in, 42G/s DSC 2:1. I also saw this on bot posts. Double negation. He write post, that no one should write back to me. Fake post with face reason to post it. Not debunked, I can’t debunk. Not having access to real HW, using not real logic. Using Flow state, to warp brain, to compile all data, see its double negation. Chinese business practice, see marketing purpose of KS with Fake name, for fake reasons.
Edit: Why use Laptop, claim, easy to carry… Why protect laptop with life(Demo person vs Girl playing Fruit Ninja), using not GTX 1080, but Qualcomm GPU, that is why use cables on controllers, test if StarVR “6DOF” is making users sick. Data gathering, money gathers all done in one pass. Efficient algorithm, well done marketing team, tech team, I know you don’t like fake fake specs. But you suspected, someone with tech knowledge what real specs is would see all is just marketing… And fake one for real reason, hide reason why use sub-pair HW to demo “next gen VR”… That is real reason for 90hz to 80Hz drop. Change of platform, no more DSC 2:1 working… Need Nvidia to let GPU use same HDMI 2.1 specs. Download more Hz,less MTP, anyone?

Looks like all pimax 8k need to upgrade components, not just 8kx.
@moderators Please close this topic. I will not post nothing else, since I now see we were mislead that solution for problems don’t exists now, that we need V4, V5, in fact just wait for green light(NDA lift timer).
Sorry for bashing too much, I understand some reasons, in China IP is not same as in west.
And I expected same transparency as with Open source projects.
Pimax and team behind this, best of luck. I trust also now in idea presented as final “8K” and “8K X” to be feasible, at close to expected delivery date. not just “cash grab”, 2 steps process, market data/testing on humans/improving on feedback. I now understand what is modular design(vs DK design). Needed just to connect docs. It was smart idea, not layman friendly, but ok, IP/NDA limits. If give them promised experiences(VR is all about that), not pure numbers(tech specs).
Immersion is what matters a lot, but if not at cost of filling sick/nauseous. I see how MTP problems are solved. 4ms GTG no longer issue with “Brainwarp”. There is reason for hype, backers you are part of process to get to true next gen. Sorry for being (hyper)over-focused on details(to all who follow my posts, probably also bad formatted).

Yeah… if you shout loud enough that everyone you’re trying to talk to gets a headache and runs away, that means you won all the arguments and are absolutely right. Can you spot the logical error? I literally don’t have the energy to try to figure out what you claim most of the time.

LOL. He lost me already very early on, with his assumption that the Pimax 8k is using the same panel as the Pimax 4k. I stopped reading there, because I’m pretty sure that’s not the case.
