Breakout box required?

Im curious about something.

I know that the controllers are not coming until Q2 next year.

I also know that we are getting the headset (supposedly by december)

I also know that since i don’t currently own a vive, that I’ll be stuck in 3DOF until those controllers ship with the base stations

But I know that vive has a breakout box.

so my questions are:

  1. will the headset be playable in 3DOF . Is the pimax headset going to come with a breakout box?
  2. If i can’t wait and order 2 HTC Vive basestations and two controllers off of craigslist
    will I also need to buy a break out box (or will one come with the headset?
