Ok fair points but you are very wrong here. An uncalibrated display vs a calibrated one can have a HUGE difference. Lets assume the Vive OLED’s are calibrated and the Pimax LCD are uncalibrated at this point. You can close the gap significantly but yeah, not OLED black due to the tech.

the latest vdeo there he said black levels were good, and was sharper than vive pro, and only notice distortion when moving head.
he didn’t try 8K, apparently the colours are worse but SDE is maent to be better than 5K+.

Comfort atm is not a thing to ask for since they are using just the old vive strap thing instead of their planned vive deluxe like strap.

@SweViver People are noticing less distortion on the low FOV mode?
@SweViver Did they bring “The Climb”? that would be good to test ‘presence’ with super wide FOV. Might need to use a few sponges and not that tiny face fabric though.

Sebastian thanks for bringing us the interview with the Pimax CEO, it’s impressive that you speak Chinese so well! I trust you and Martin will tell us everything we need to know in detail to make the right decision between keeping the 8k or switching to the 5k+ whenever your NDA lifts (refrsh rate, sde, clarity, color, contrast, fov, latency, gpu demand).
I’m glad you asked if 8k backers will get credit when switching to 5k+. I’m sure I’m not the only one considering the change depending on reviews and who would also opt for the hand tracking to be bundled in when switching to 5k+. As a result, I was wondering if you could ask a few more questions on our behalf since I haven’t seen them answered anywhere.

When is the ship date for the leap motion hand tracking? It seems to be ready unlike the eye tracking, wireless module, controllers, and base stations.
