As the 8k headset has been delayed somewhat, when can those that backed packages including base stations expect to receive deliveries?
I’m aware that there are currently no definite release dates/months, but will the base stations and controllers also be delayed by x amount of months?
I backed the package including base stations and controllers. In the survey I opted to wait until it is all ready (April), rather than to receive the headset first (February).
So if for arguments sake the headsets ship in April, will the accessories be shipping in April as planned, or in June?
The original shipping survey had already stated the base stations (v2) would be April, so the headset delay will only bring it closer with that, as we wait for the new bridge chip, also said to be about the same time.
The exploring “new hardware solution” to achieve 90Hz is about the new bridge chip they are waiting to try. Where the actual reference to this part name “bridge chip” is exactly, is dam near impossible to find in this poorly designed forum. If that specific reference to this “hardware” being a new version of the bridge chip means a lot to you, you might just pm Xunshu for confirmation, but I am fairly confident of this being the part they are hoping will resolve 90Hz and have referred to it as such and what they are waiting to test.
Point is the delay until April is to test new hardware to try and get this puppy to 90Hz and the delay in base stations (the threads question) is in the old shipping survey and is also April.
I think what they want to try a new hardware structure with the same bridge chip, not to wait for a chip that nobody is making. They would also tell us if that structure solves the problem or they decide something else, in March, not April.
As for the Pimax 8K X, you need two bridge chips and two DP cables, is not it, @deletedpimaxrep1?
Just realized, the full Pimax package comes with 2 base stations but there were people on KS talking about ordering more to produce a total of 4.
Would there be any real need for 4, e.g. in a square room, one on each wall? Was this for those who want to stand in the middle of a room maybe, instead of those facing a wall with a monitor/desk on it so then 2 base stations are fine for seated VR/standing up near your PC desk?
If you are working with a mansion or warehouse. 4 v2 base stations will do something like 33x33ft. I would think 2 would suffice in most home settings.
