500 series Motherboards have Amd chipsets as with other Amd cpu Mobos.
Yes Amd mobos are compatible with Nvidia Gpus. My Asus b450 itx board for example is paired with a 1080ti.
Any Ryzen motherboard has “AMD chipset” on it (being it 300, 400, or 500 series). None is however manufactured by AMD. I am still curious what @NextGenVR actually meant in the OP.

Agreed that was what I was pointing out. Any AMD cpu(for a very long time since before even FX series) has Amd chipsets on the mobo. But no I haven’t seen any directly made by Amd mobos either.
I’ve read that 500 series motherboards are getting compatibility but there are also AMD motherboards that don’t work with Intel CPUs. Are all 500 series AMD only?
That doesn’t make sense, if you want AMD you need to buy MOBO that was designed for AMD with AMD chipset, if you want intel you need Intel mobo, they have different sockets, different features & architecture, universal mobo doesn’t make sense as it’s a waste of money & as more complex it is as more bugs prone it is as well.
Amd have variety of chipsets, 500 series are like 520 or 570, 570 the best atm afaik, the point was that AMD will roll out processor that will be compatible with previous cpu gen mobo chipset, they didn’t develop new chipset specifically for Ryzen 5000 series. So old AMD users who had e.g. AMD 3000x won’t need to upgrade mobo & just can buy silicone itself. So they state that bios gets new firmware for old mobos so they will be able to run new 5000 series

there are no shared compatability between the motherboards for intel cpu’s and amd cpu’s. but a lot of confusion in the naming.

Back during the times of the 486 Intel and Amd shared the same CPU socket.

i had 286, 386 & 486, then pentium 166, haha, I played starcraft & red alert on 486 & it was almost ok, but I couldn’t watch movies, good times, I remember a lot of cool quests games, something like space odyssey etc

New Ryzens are available and reviews start pouring out, Ryzen 9 5900X and 5950X processors beats any comparable Intel on all fronts in both productivity and gaming, and both sigle and multithreading, even the cheapest 6 core 12 threads Ryzen 5 5600X stands up quite well against the competition !..
AMD is the new king of the hill, welcome back AMD

That article above about a modular mb is from 1st April 2016 - April fool.
Be certain to go with b550 or x570 chipset AM4 socket mbs.
I will very likely “upgrade” (better: swap) my 7700k to an amd b550 mb with an ryzen 5800x. The 8 core has only one ccx (cpu chiplet) active, so no high latency needed if one ccx needs to access the data from the other ccx (as seen in igors lab review with the 5900x in tomb raider benchmark from today).
So better stay away from multi chiplet cpus for gaming unless you need those extra cores for productivity work. You could also still buy an 5950x and deactivate one of the 8core ccx chiplets in the bios when gaming…but thats a little overkill imho.
8 cores (16 threads) should be enough for the next 2-3 years of gaming.
