5k+ problem, need some help :)

Hello guys,

I have a problem, when i look into the lenses i see a strange " Spot “, but the lens is clear, without any noticeable scratch or anything.
it happens a lot more in the right eye, and the " spot” is at the bottom left of the right lens for me, when i look into the headset…
It’s not a blank dot, or anything, the area is more contrasty, more dark actually.

I took a screenshot to share it with you, i’m sorry for the quality of the image ( PS : the whites lines are the lines in steam VR ).

Thank you for the help

That is a bit odd looking.

Doesn’t go away with reboots or in games?

Has your headset ever been exposed to direct sunlight . It looks like some kind of screen burn .

Good point. The lens will act as magnifying glass. At least you didn’t burn the house down. (It happens.)

thx for helping
Unfortunately, nope, i have it since some time now, it seems that it’s more hardware i think.

That’s a nice idea.
I really dont know; i make all the possible to dont expose it to the sun, but maybe one day, for some hours when the sun moved, it has hit my headset.
i will look more for that

Might be an idea to start a Support Ticket.

Je pense également que ce sont des dégâts lié a une exposition au soleil.

I also think its sun damage.

I advise against taking the lens out personally, this is done in a clean room for a reason. The only reason to do this is to confirm what is causing this issue. If the lens has no marks on it when you take it out, yea you’ve confirmed it’s a screen issue - but that doesn’t really help solve it.

I’m gonna agree, likely sun damage. Idk how hard it is for the pimax technicians to disassemble the HMD. Just replacing a screen isn’t the end of the world, and I’d imagine would cost a lot less than a new HMD but who knows.

That is true but, as I recall, there is a clear plastic divider between the lens and the inside of the headset which would keep any dust out. Due to that I suspect that all you would need to clean it properly would be a lens cloth. Just don’t let the adhesive on the sides of the lenses get on anything else.

I was not aware of the plastic layer, that’s a great engineering decision. Additionally some measures can be taken to remove dust from the room, hot shower then do it etc. Just saying if this were an RMA situation I’d never recommend it, but if he’s out of warranty I’d go for it personally

So far i have open a ticket, they asked me to install an older firmware , i did that without any sucess so far.

I searched some pictures of VR headset lenses sunburned, but i havent found any yet to compare with my problem.
Because it can be that, but the screen is perfect, i mean it work perfect, i dont have any blank dot, or anything, its just a zone that is darker.
In game, when everything move and with more color, it’s less annoying, we barely see it.

Thanks for your comment and help

Are you covered by warranty still? It may not be majorly annoying but I’d RMA if possible.

Your spot looks dark which is nice, the burn spots can be bright red and awful looking. Here’s an example. If it is a burn spot, yours is minor, and in that case I’d potentially try to ignore it haha. But It’s hard to tell how bad it is without trying myself.

and another
